Sand and sandbags available to City residents
MERCED – The City of Merced Public Works Department has stockpiled sand throughout the City in case of storm-related emergencies.
Sandbags are available at the Central Fire Station, 385-6891, located at 99 E. 16th St.
There is no charge for the sand or sandbags. All of the sand stockpiles are open around-the-clock, but residents need to bring a shovel and load it themselves. Public Works employees will be checking the sites regularly to make sure there is an adequate supply.
