The City of Merced will be giving a progress report to the community on the McNamara Park renovation grant at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 9, at the park. City staff will be on hand to explain the planned improvements and answer questions.
The City received a $2.6 million state grant to renovate the park at 1040 Canal St. and the plans include adding a covered entertainment pavilion, expanding playground equipment, improved irrigation, redoing the basketball court, adding security cameras, installing two artificial turf fields, remaking an all-purpose grass field, installing new fencing, installing new restrooms, and adding a splash pad.
The progress report will be given near the bleachers on Canal Street. The City plans to go out to bid on the project in June with construction to begin in August. The project is expected to be finished by about the end of the year.
