Asked to recommend members to Youth Task Force
The City of Merced Recreation and Parks Commission will be asked to recommend three commissioners to take part in a Youth Task Force during its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
At its Sept. 16 meeting, the Merced City Council voted unanimously to create a Youth Task Force to recommend the best way for the Council to hear from youth. Council said it could be through a youth commission, but that there are other avenues of communication that might work better for today’s young people.
In addition to the three commissioners, the Youth Task Force will have seven high school students recommended by Council members and two representatives from the Merced Union High School District. The task force is to have a recommendation before the Council at its Nov. 18 meeting.
The Commission will hold a study session during a 4:30 p.m. special meeting to discuss policy, direction and goals. The special meeting will be held in the Sam Pipes Room.
The regular meeting of the Commission will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, in the City Council Chambers on the second floor of the Merced Civic Center, 678 W. 18th St.
