The City of Merced presents the Fifth annual Cap & Town Festival in honor of all Merced area graduates. The streets of historic Downtown Merced will be transformed into a celebration of food, family and fun on Friday, May 17, 2013. Come out and meet the unique vendors, grab a bite to eat, dance the night away and watch a live dance performance or concert from the various local dance troupes and bands.
The State Supreme Court has ruled in favor of the City of Merced in a case dealing with a planned Wal-Mart Distribution Center. The State Supreme Court has decided not to hear an appeal of a Fifth District Court of Appeal decision that found no problems with the City’s Environmental Impact Report (EIR) on the project.
Merced County, in conjunction the cities of Merced, Atwater and other cities and agencies have launched a new emergency notification service allowing residents to be alerted of an emergency or community alert in their neighborhood.
The improved Merced County Emergency Notification System (ENS) will allow residents throughout the county alternate ways of being contacted during an emergency, such as cell phones, business phones, home phones, emails, text messages or hearing impaired receiving devices. More importantly, individuals can choose how they will be notified and in what preference order. Click here to read the full press release
