After School/Drop in/Afternoon Recreation Program and Camps

Our Mission:
To provide youth in our community with Safe & Fun After School
Recreational Activities while helping to develop a positive and healthy
lifestyle and reinforcing a sense of community involvement.

Our Commitment:
We are committed to providing youth in our community with quality programs.
This is achieved through highly trained and professional staff, state-
of-the-art equipment that is safe and in good working condition and facilities
that are well maintained and structured for serving youth.

After Noon Drop-In Program Sites

Afternoon/Drop In Recreation Programs For Children

Our Afternoon/Drop in Recreation Program sites offer participants the opportunity to participate
in a wide variety of activities such as arts, crafts, table games (pool, ping pong, bumper pool, air hockey) board games, video games, sports, S.P.A.R.K. activities, movies, special events and much more.

1) Stephen Leonard Park Community Recreation Center
640 T Street
Start Date: Monday, August 18, 2008
Monday thru Friday • 3 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Grades 1st thru 8th (High School Youth May be Accepted)
Number of Staff 2 to 4 a day (depends on number of participants)
Site Capacity: 60 participants
Fee: $10/year

2) McNamara Park Recreation Center
Drop in Site
1040 Canal Street
Start Date: Monday, August 18, 2008
Hours of Operation: Monday thru Friday • 3:00 p.m. thru 6:00 p.m.
Grades: 1st thru 6th
Number of Staff 2 to 3 a day (depends on number of participants)
Site Capacity: 45 participants
Fee: $10.00 year

Summer Drop-In Program Sites

1) Stephen Leonard Park Community Recreation Center
640 T Street
Start Date: June 16 - August 1, 2008
Monday thru Friday • 1 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Grades 1st thru 8th (High School Youth May be Accepted)
Number of Staff 2 to 4 a day (depends on number of participants)
Site Capacity: 45 participants
Fee: $10.00/month

2) McNamara Park Recreation Center
Drop in Site
1040 Canal Street
Start Date: June 16 - August 1, 2008
Hours of Operation: Monday thru Friday • 1:00 p.m. thru 6:00 p.m.
Grades: 1st thru 8th
Number of Staff 2 to 3 a day (depends on number of participants)
Site Capacity: 45 participants
Fee: $10.00/month


All  registration will be taken through the Parks and Community Services Main Office located at 690 W. 16th Street.  the office phone number is 385-6855.  Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. M-F.

Scholarships are currently only available for Stephen Leonard and McNamara.  Scholarships are based on ability to pay.  Scholarship forms must be filled out completely.  Failure to comply with scholarship agreement may result in removal from program and fee waiver reimbursement to the City of Merced.

8 am - 10 am or 11 am - 1 pm @ Senior Community Center

1/19/09: "City of Merced, Martin Luther King Jr. March & Rememberence"
10 am @ Merced Amtrak Station
12 pm - 3 pm @ Merced County Fairgrounds Junior Exhibit Hall
