Measure C Information

On April 1, 2006, a voter approved half-cent sates tax went into effect. Known as Measure C, the sales tax can be used for increased services in public safety, transportation and other vital municipal improvements

Measure C is expected to generate up to $160 million in funds over its 20-year life.

One of the provisions contained in Measure C was the creation of a Citizens Oversight Committee. The group reviews the spending of the City’s new half-cent sales tax and advises the City Council on ways to budget the funds.

There are nine voting members of the Measure C Citizens Oversight Committee. The Committee consists of three registered voters from each of the City’s three police districts. Elected officials and City employees and their dependants cannot be voting members of the committee.
