Description
The Refuse Division is responsible for all solid waste collection within City limits. This includes scheduled and unscheduled service for residential, commercial, and industrial customers, as well as special programs such as Alley Cleanup, Spring Cleanup and Tire Amnesty.
Mission
To provide the citizens of Merced excellent solid waste services, which protect public health, preserve quality of life, and enhance the City’s general appearance.
Goals
Provide regular collection of residential, industrial, and commercial solid waste in the most efficient and cost effective manner.
Holiday Schedule
So that City of Merced Refuse Division employees may enjoy Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years holidays with their families, during those weeks normal residential refuse collection will be delayed one day. For example, residents whose refuse is collected on Wednesday will receive Thursday service, and normal Friday collection will receive service on Saturday. Please make the necessary changes to your schedule and remember to have your container out before 6:00 am on your service day.
Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day collection for commercial customers will be complete by the following day.
Thank you and Happy Holidays from the City of Merced Refuse Division.
Martin Luther King Day, celebrated January 21, 2008, will not affect refuse collection for the residents of the City of Merced. The Solid Waste Division will collect refuse according to the normal schedule. Please be certain to have your garbage ready for collection at the normal time.
