Construction on the newest hotel in Merced in more than a decade began in the Spring of 2005. Courtyard by Marriott worked with the Redevelopment Agency for an reimbursement agreement to provide funding for public improvements for the 90 room hotel site. Such public improvements included the undergrounding of overhead utility lines, sidewalks and more along Motel Drive.
