The Merced Redevelopment Agency currently has two project areas.

• Project Area Two encompasses downtown Merced and portions of the Western Industrial Park. Having been in existence for more than 30 years, numerous landmark projects have been completed including construction of Mainplace Merced, Costco, the Merced Auto Center, The McCombs Youth Center, The Senior Center, Merced Lofts, and the rehabilitation of the Mondo Building.
• The Gateways Project Area includes the majority of Merced south of Highway 99, the eastern parcels fronting Highway 59 between 16th Street and Santa Fe Drive and a portion of midtown between G and M Streets and 18th Street and Bear Creek.  The project area includes some portions that are not incorporated into the City.  Two of the recently completed projects in the Gateways Project Area include the Grove Community and the undergrounding of overhead utilities on Yosemite Parkway.
