City schedules budget public hearing June 7
The Merced City Council continues developing the 2010-2011 budget with another workshop and public hearing.
The $35 million proposed General Fund budget reflects more than $1.2 million in cuts from the previous year. In addition, the City is using approximately $3.7 million in reserves to balance the budget.
The budget schedule is: June 21, 5:30 p.m. Workshop in the Council Chambers. June 21, 7 p.m. Adoption of the budget in the Council Chambers during the regular meeting. The proposed budget is posted online at the City's web site, http://www.cityofmerced.org/depts/city_budget/default.asp The meetings are open to the public. Request to Speak cards are available at the meeting or can be downloaded from the City's website. Cards must be turned in to the City Clerk in order for a person to be recognized by the Council.
Merced Airport has New Flights to Las Vegas
Passengers can fly direct from Merced Regional Airport to McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas. Great Lakes Airways offers two nonstop flights to Las Vegas each day, and two flights from Las Vegas to Merced.
Las Vegas also is one of the largest air hubs in the country. Great Lakes passengers are able to connect to more than 30 different air carriers based at McCarran, serving cities around the world. Parking is free at the Merced Airport, and lines are almost non-existent.
