Merced City Offices Closed for July 4th Holiday

Frank Quintero

Post Date:07/02/2018

Offices for the City of Merced will be closed Wednesday, July 4, 2018, for the Independence Day Holiday.

The Planning Commission meeting has been moved to Thursday, July 5th, starting at 7pm, in the Merced City Council Chambers on the 2nd Floor of the Merced Civic Center (678 W. 18th Street.)

There will be no trash collection on July 4th. Refuse collection will be delayed one day for the rest of the week. Residents and businesses with collection on Wednesday will have their trash collected Thursday, etc.

Merced has Zero Tolerance for illegal fireworks. Use a skyrocket or a barrel bomb and it could cost you up to $2,000. Keep using illegal fireworks or sell them and it could land you in court.

Remember, only safe and sane fireworks are allowed in the City of Merced. Even those can be dangerous in the hands of children if not handled properly. Keep fireworks out of tall grass, weeds and other flammable materials.

If you are going to be celebrating Independence Day with alcohol, be sensible and designate a drive. Make this a happy holiday for everyone.
