City Council meets Monday night
City Manager swearing in, grant application on City Council agenda
Swearing in the new city manager, approving a Homeland Security grant and considering the applicants for City Attorney are on the agenda for the Merced City Council.
The regular meeting will be at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers on the second floor of the Merced Civic Center, 678 W. 18th St.
New City Manager Steve Carrigan will be given the oath of office by Merced County Superior Court Presiding Judge Brian L. McCabe at the start of the meeting.
The City is applying for $25,355 in State Homeland Security Grant Program funds to purchase a bomb suit and a bomb helmet to protect the bomb tech while investigating suspicious packages.
Also on the agenda, the Council will consider awarding a $200,000 contract to Evoqua Water Technologies to furnish granular activated carbon to remove PCE from city drinking water at Well 3C. PCE is a cleaning solvent that was used at dry cleaners and auto repair shops.
A closed session will be held at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the hiring of the City Attorney.
