FULL HIGHWAY CLOSURE


state route 99 FROM 15th street to 13th street


IN MERCED COUNTY

This work is anticipated to take one night; however, if needed the contractor may extend the closure on Tuesday, November 24, 2015, from 10:00 p.m. until Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at 6:00 a.m.


Crews will also perform various road construction and bridge activities on SR-99 from 15th Street to 13th Street.  (Due to Thanksgiving holiday, no road work is scheduled the evening of Wednesday, November 26, 2015, through Sunday, November 29, 2015.)  Work will occur as follows:




  • The #1 (left) lane on northbound SR-99 from SR-140 (near 16th Street) to G Street will close beginning Monday, November 23, 2015, through Wednesday, November 25, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m.;

  • The #2 (right) lane on southbound SR-99 from SR-140 (near 16th Street) to G Street will close beginning Monday, November 23, 2015, through Wednesday, November 25, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 a.m.;

  • The southbound on-ramp from 13th Street to SR-99 will close beginning Monday, November 23, 2015, through Wednesday, November 25, 2015, from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.;

  • The southbound off-ramp from SR-99 (near 16th Street) to eastbound SR-140 is closed and scheduled to reopen spring of 2016;

  • The southbound on-ramp from G Street to SR-99 is closed and scheduled to reopen spring of 2016;

  • The connector ramp from southbound SR-99/near 17th Street (Main Street) to eastbound SR-140 is closed and scheduled to reopen December of 2015.


This work is part of the $32.4 million SR-99 East Merced Overhead Project which began on June 11, 2012.  The project will replace the bridge decks on the 15th Street Undercrossing and the East Merced Overhead Structures.  The project will also bring the bridge widths and bridge rails to current standards; install a concrete median barrier; provide standard shoulder widths; and upgrade the existing guard rails and bridge approach rails.

Motorists should expect 15 minute delays.  A signed detour is in place and alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.


Work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/ or materials, and construction related issues.
