Parks and Recreation Budget Forum set
Forum to get ideas on City recreation programs
A public forum to obtain comments, ideas and suggestions on the City's recreation programs will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at the Sound Life International Ministries, 928 W. Main St., Merced.
The 'Parks and Recreation Budget Forum' will be a community dialogue hosted by a subcommittee of the Merced City Recreation and Parks Commission. Last year the Commission voted to create a subcommittee to gather ideas from the public on what kinds of recreation programs they would like to see in the City. At its Nov. 24 meeting, the Commission voted to have three members conduct a meeting to solicit the community's 'vision' for recreation.
The group will use a World Caf' format to obtain community responses to questions about City recreation programs, with roundtable discussions by all participants. This will be an on-going effort by the Recreation and Parks Commission to gather community input and share the results with staff and the City Council.
Any interested community resident, from youth through senior, is invited to attend.
