Merced Council to meet at Tenaya Middle School Monday night
The Merced City Council will hold a special meeting at Tenaya Middle School at 7 p.m. Monday night. There are two items on the agenda, a report on what has happened since the last community meeting in April, and a report on the City’s emergency notification system. There will be time for public comments during the meeting.
A change in the City Charter in 2007 allowed the City Council to hold its meetings outside of City Hall. The first meeting outside City Hall was at the Sacred Heart Community Center April 30, 2012. The Council will hear a follow up report to several topics brought up during that meeting including Operation Ceasefire, economic development in the southern Merced community and the reopening of the McNamara Pool.
The Council also will hear a report on the Merced County Emergency Notification System, which allows city residents to get messages on their cell phones, telephones or computers of important alerts. The emergency alerts can be fire, law enforcement, weather or other emergency notices for residents or businesses in a particular area.
Tenaya Middle School is located at 760 W. 8th St. The City Council will hold a second special meeting in the northern part of the City at Rivera Middle School, 945 Buena Vista Dr., Monday, Feb. 25.
