Community Conversations on education workshops and Town Hall meeting
Education workshops and a Town Hall meeting are two of this week’s topics on Community Conversations, a public service program on KYOS.
The hour-long show focuses on community, education and government news affecting residents throughout Merced County. The show airs at 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday on KYOS, 1480 AM.
This weekend’s lineup: Central Valley Higher Education Consortium Associate Director Cheri Cruz will talk about upcoming Closing the Gap workshops throughout the Valley; Francisco Romo with Merced County Office of Education will discuss the State Seal of Biliteracy and how Merced County students can attain it; Mike Conway will talk about the City of Merced’s upcoming Town Hall meeting and the upcoming meeting of the 125th Anniversary Committee; UC Merced students Marisol Prado and Nikki Azizhan will talk about the “Expanding Your Horizon’s” conference at the campus to encourage young women to go into the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) field; Sharon Lohman, President of New Beginnings for Animals, will speak about their latest activities and Leticia Quezada from the Veteran’s Affairs office will speak about the CareGiver Support Program available to area veterans.
The show is produced by Roger Wood, Nathan Quevedo from the Merced County Office of Education, Mike Conway from the City of Merced, Scott Hernandez-Jason of the University of California, Merced and Mike North from the County of Merced, in association with Merced College.
