Community Conversations on financial aid, entertainment and youth


College financial aid, live entertainment and play and a youth assembly are some of this week’s topics on Community Conversations, a public service program on KYOS.


The hour-long show focuses on community, education and government news affecting residents throughout Merced County. The show airs at 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday on KYOS, 1480 AM.


This weekend’s lineup: Learn about financial aid deadlines from Uvaldo Calderon, a Financial Aid Advisor for UC Merced; Tisha Blackwood-Freitas from Foundations Public Schools talks about an upcoming fundraiser; Martha Nataras and Ana Machado invite young women to the Livingston Young Women’s Conference; Rob Hypes shares insights into directing “Shrek” at Playhouse Merced; The Castle Family Health Center has a Day of Service and Alice Kieffer will explain what will happen; Gail Benedict with Arts UC Merced has the inside story on the upcoming Ladysmith Black Mambazo show and Katrina Kasper from the City’s Youth Task Force talks about the upcoming Youth Assembly that will be held on March 1.


The show is produced by Roger Wood, Nathan Quevedo from the Merced County Office of Education, Mike Conway from the City of Merced, Scott Hernandez-Jason of the University of California, Merced and Mike North from the County of Merced, in association with Merced College.

The show’s host is Quevedo and the engineer is Steve Colvard.
