Youth Assembly Saturday: Merced youth, speak out
Saturday, the youth of Merced are being asked: What would you like to see, change or improve in the City of Merced?
It’s the big question at the Youth Assembly being held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1 in the Merced Civic Center, 678 W. 18th St. The Youth Assembly is open to students in 8th through 12th grades who attend schools in the City of Merced.
The Youth Assembly was organized by the Merced Youth Task Force, a group of students with adult advisors who are working to create a Youth Council. The Merced City Council wants to establish the Youth Council in order to improve communications with young people in the city.
The results from the poll and the Assembly will be presented to the City Council and also to the City’s Economic Development Department. The question was also asked at high schools in the City prior to the Youth Assembly.
