Measure C Citizens Committee vacancies
MERCED – Nine Merced residents are needed to sit on the Measure C Citizens Oversight Committee. The group will review the spending of the City’s new half-cent sales tax and advise the City Council on ways to budget the funds.
The sales tax, which will go into effect on April 1, is expected to generate up to $160 million in funds over its 20-year life. The money can be used for increased services in public safety, transportation and other badly needed municipal improvements.
The Committee will consist of three registered voters from each of the City’s three police districts. Elected officials and City employees and their dependants cannot be voting members of the committee. The City Council will make the final selection of members.
The applications are available online at the City’s Web site, www.cityofmerced.org, or at the City Clerk’s Office on the first floor of the Civic Center, 678 W. 18th, Merced.
The application deadline is Jan. 31.
