Be informed about the reality of law enforcement In our community. Build trust based relationships with the men and women of the Merced Police Department. Participate in the next session of the citizens police academy.  Do you want to learn about the MPD’s officers, training, use of force, patrol procedures, and internal investigations?  Are you interested in doing a ride along with an officer or going to the MPD firing range and much more?

Topics include: recruitment and training of officers, communication center, crime analysis, patrol procedures, investigations, internal affairs, tactical communication, force continuum, use of force, gang violence suppression unit, firearms, bomb team, K9, critical incident response, code enforcement, disruptive area response team, SWAT, animal control, traffic, parking, drones, crime scene response, along with other topics.

Summer Citizen’s Academy for Adults

Deadline to register: Thursday, July 9th

Class begins: Thursday, July 16th

This 11 week journey is free to anyone 18 and over that lives in the City of Merced or works in Merced.  Registration is on a first come, first serve basis and seating is limited. Dates are every Thursday from 6pm - 9pm including one Saturday session.  Time to be announced for the one Saturday session.

 

Summer Citizen’s Academy for Youth

Class begins: Monday, July 20th

The Merced Police Department is pleased to announce the first ever Youth Citizen’s Police Academy.  Youth Academy is available to youth living in the City of Merced and going into their junior or senior year of high school.  The Youth Academy will start July 20 and meet daily from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. until July 25.  The academy will give participants an overview of a police officer’s duties, training, and responsibilities.  Participants will be able to interact with traffic, bomb, swat, gang, DART and K9 units.  Seating is limited. First come, first serve basis.

El Departamento de Policía de Merced se complace en anunciar la primera Academia de Policía de Ciudadanos Españoles. Se publicará más información en español en nuestro sitio web y en otros medios de comunicación.

Este viaje de 11 semanas es gratis para cualquier persona mayor de 18 años que viva en la Ciudad de Merced o trabaje en Merced. El registro se realiza por orden de llegada. Asientos son limitados. Las fechas son todos los martes del 18 de agosto al 27 de octubre de 6pm a 9pm incluyendo una sesión de sábado. Hora de anunciarse para la sesión de un sábado.

This 11 week journey is free to anyone 18 and over that lives in the City of Merced or works in Merced.  Registration is on a first come, first serve basis.  Seating is limited. Dates are every Wednesday from August 19th through October 28th from 6pm - 9pm including one Saturday session.  Time to be announced for the one Saturday session.
