The Committee, created by City Resolution 2010-80, will recommend to City Council how best to achieve a Greenhouse Gas Reduction Target. The greenhouse gas reduction opportunities come from a wide variety of sources in the community, including but not limited to, transportation-related sources such as movement of goods and commuting/travel patterns; building energy usage; and the pumping of water. The Committee consists of citizens, schools, colleges and universities, public entities, utilities, environmental advocacy and conservation groups, the building and development community, “green-jobs” industry; and local chambers of commerce representatives. Meetings will be held the first Thursday of each odd-numbered month and the first Wednesday of each even-numbered month, beginning January 2011, for up to 12 months, between the hours of 6:30 PM and 8:30 PM, in the Sam Pipes Room on the first floor of the Merced Civic Center, 678 W. 18th St., Merced.
