On June 5, 2018, California voters passed a $4.1 billion bond measure to fund state and local parks, environmental projects, water infrastructure projects and flood protection projects throughout California. The City of Merced has applied for grant funding out of this proposition to create one to three new parks in the Bellevue Ranch subdivision between G Street and R Street and Cardella Road and Bellevue Road. This area was selected because there are currently not enough parks to accommodate the population in the area, which also makes it a highly competitive application site.
Those chosen to receive a grant will be notified sometime in January 2020.
