Gang Violence Suppression Unit

The Gang Violence Suppression Unit (GVSU) was formed in 1994 and is staffed by Officers that are trained in gang structure, gang criminal activities and the role of prison gangs in the City. GVSU officers respond to complaints from citizens and to information gathered by operations division officers, concerning gang problem in specific neighborhoods.

NARCOTICS AND GANG TIPS

The Merced Police Department aggressively investigates citizen tips of drug and gang related activity in our city. Although we prefer to speak with you about your concerns, you may post a tip anonymously. The most efficient ways to provide the Police Department with information are:

The Merced Police Department only has the authority to investigate drug and gang related activity that occurs in our city. If you have information about gang and drug activity that is not within the city limits of Merced, please contact the appropriate jurisdiction.
